Love this place! I have been eating here for 15 years. Best WontonDumplings Noodles soup. All of the dishes are great and very good price. Triple BBQ Delight is highly recommended, get the Roasted Pork!

The fried rice here was awesome. The smokiness and wok flavor from every meal here was worth all the money spent here. I did not quite like the chow mein because of the texture but it was still tasty. The barbeque pork and duck was very delicious and quite cheap compared to the cost spent if I were to make one myself. Service was okay but the waiters were quite busy to attend to us a lot of times. Place was nice and clean but quite cramped and smells overwhelmingly of the barbeque.

The fried wontons were crispy and quite filling. We had the kung pao chicken and fish fillet. Food is priced very reasonably and menu is quite expansive. There are even healthy options on the menu. Service was good too. Pretty good quality food! Tasty and fresh! Check them out but keep in mind they are cash only.

Ive been coming to this place since 1995. Ive seen this place been renovated 3 times over the years. I order the same thing every time I come. Must try their Peking Duck, Soy Sauce Steamed Chicken, and their Fish Fillet with Black Bean sauce. Take note, they accept cash or cards.

So happy I dont have to drive to the SGV to eat authentic and delicious Chinese food now! Sam Woo has a giant menu with all of the classic Chinese dishes. The 4 of us came on a Sunday night and were seated immediately. We got French style tenderloin beef, mapo tofu, shrimp with scrambled eggs, seafood hot pot, and eggplant in garlic sauce with minced pork. Food came out SOO fast. Also got rice for 4, 6, a reasonable charge for a large pot of rice. Tea was complimentary which was awesome, since so many SGV restaurants charge per person! for tea now. Everything was delicious, could not recommend more highly!! Definitely get the beef if youre a red meat fan. All portions were enormous except for the beef, which was just regularsized, but most beef entrees arent large so we didnt mind. We got this great old guy as our waiter who gave us the BEST service. We were SHOCKED bc obviously Chinese restaurant service gets a bad rap and sometimes for good reason Im Chinese so I can say that lol. But he checked in with us right away. He took our order for a couple of dishes so we could get started while we decided the rest of our order. He brought us water quickly. He gave us a detailed recommendation on what the seafood hot pot entailed shrimp, tofu, fish filet, squid, scallops on a bed of lettuce in white sauce. He was very attentive and easy to wave down. And he boxed up our leftovers tableside instead of leaving us to do ourselves. Anyway, we wanted to leave him a 30 tip but I asked him whether they pooled tips and he said yes. So we tipped 15 didnt want to screw over the dishwashers and other servers and then gave him an extra 10 in cash for his kindness. Which reminds me, they now take credit cards which is awesome! they didnt in the past. Cant wait to come back here and check out the rest of the extensive menu. The parking lot can get really crowded during peak hours bc Sam Woo is next door to 99 Ranch, but no parking problems on Sunday night.

Sam Woo Village BBQ

In the heart of Van Nuys, Sam Woo Village BBQ brings the spirit of traditional Chinese barbecue into a modern, relaxed setting where every dish is a testament to flavor, precision, and culture. A beloved stop for locals and visitors alike, this family-friendly restaurant delivers more than just grilled meats—it offers a culinary experience steeped in heritage and authenticity.

Sam Woo Village BBQ Highlights the Timeless Craft of Chinese Barbecue
The essence of Sam Woo Village BBQ lies in its mastery of Chinese barbecue cuisine, also known as siu mei. Step into the dining room and you’re greeted with the unmistakable aroma of roasted duck, crispy pork belly, and honey-glazed char siu hanging proudly behind the glass display. It’s a visual and olfactory promise that what you’re about to enjoy is the real deal.

The chefs follow techniques passed down over generations. Each protein is marinated, roasted, and sliced with care. The balance of five-spice, soy, garlic, and aromatic oils creates a depth of flavor that feels both nostalgic and new. From the crackling skin of roast pork to the tender layers of duck breast, the textures and flavors are deeply satisfying.

The Menu at Sam Woo Village BBQ Delivers Depth, Variety, and Tradition
While the barbecue is the star, the menu at Sam Woo Village BBQ goes far beyond grilled meats. Patrons can explore a wide selection of noodle soups, fried rice, stir-fried vegetables, and hot pot-style specialties. You’ll find dishes that are both comforting and bold, including beef chow fun, mapo tofu, and salt-and-pepper squid.

Those in the mood for something lighter will appreciate the balance offered by dishes like steamed fish with ginger scallion sauce or Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce. For groups, the family-style menu makes it easy to share a table full of options—perfect for mixing roasted meats with dumplings, soups, and vegetable plates.
